Also known as Underground Utility Location Survey or Utility Mapping. The purpose of this type of survey is the horizontal location of underground utilities by means of locating above ground marks set by a Utility Locator. The location of marks is obtained by a combination of Global Positioning System (GPS) observations and conventional methods.
Survey data is imported into a drawing file using line types corresponding to the surveyed utility. Drawing files can be used as reference files or overlaid onto Google Earth Maps.
An Underground Utility Location Survey Typically Includes:
- The location of reference points for test hole/soft digs
- Location of elevation of said mark.
